I'm back with another easy DIY project: How to use wine corks to cover a letter.
This is a project that my husband and I have been planning to do for a while. We begrudglingly drank many bottles of wine for this project. -ahem- Any-who...
We ordered a 16 inch MDF letter 'H' from Craftcuts.com. They carry of huge selection of numbers and letters in lots of fonts and sizes.
We used a hot glue gun, but you could probably use any kind of fast drying or fast setting glue.
We gathered our corks. We had a few ... don't judge.
Our glue gun is just a really small, really cheap one, but it did the job just fine. Just dab a bit of glue on the end, and stick it on the MDF letter.
We started in the middle and worked our way out, placing them randomly. We did try to stagger the 'whites' and the 'reds' as we went.
Somebody thought it would be a good idea to have a glass of wine while working on this. Again - don't judge.
For some of the corks along the edges, we squeezed in a little glue on the sides, in between the corks to secure them a little better.
We worked our way all around the letter using about 8 glue sticks, and it took us about 30 minutes to complete.
Ta-da!
Cost breakdown:
Letter 'H': $11.75 + 4.95 shipping = $16.70
Glue sticks: $1.00
Wine drank: priceless
Total cost for this project: $17.70
Not bad for a fun, easy project that my husband and I could work on together + have a cool accessory for our home!
